Raumgreifende
Videoinstallation
2004
Mit
«Play Stop : Odyssee» ist die Reise umschrieben, in der sich Odysseus
in
Selbst-Darstellung in verschiedenen
Seven take part in the casting by testing their battle cry.
SCHLACHT
DER POLSTER – BATTLE
OF THE PILLOWS
In
den 21 «Schlachten» kämpfen zwei gegen zwei, jeder gegen jeden.
In the 21 battles two fight against two, everyone against everyone.
SIRENEN
– SIRENS
Der Verführungsversuch
von vier Sirenen.
The attempt to seduce four sirens.
NACHHER
– AFTER
Drei
Dialoge mit Odysseus und Penelope, Endlosschlaufen des Nichtweiterkommens.
Three dialogues with Odysseus and Penelope, looping with no progress.
In
the centre of the video installation Play Stop : Odyssee is Odysseus.
Parts of
his
destiny from the Odyssey are used here in images and texts. The distributions
of
the video projections result from the cameras viewpoint.
The three surfaces of projection:
1. wall: casting or else battle of the pillows
2. ceiling: sirens
3. floor: after or else battle of the pillows
Although for example the video of the sirens can be seen all the
time, the sound
which
is part of it cannot always be heard.
In the timeline a two minute talk becomes apparent. This corresponds to the
sirene-video.
The sounds of the different videos are overlaid. As the comprehensibility
is
only needed with the dialogue between Odysseus and Penelope, the volume is
adjusted
towards that. Play Stop : Odyssee deals with the journey, in which
Odysseus
puts
himself in the foreground by withstanding the sirens, by doing well in the casting,
but
after that he has to confront Penelope neck and neck in his biggest trial to
finally
prove
himself in the battle of the pillows, as is expected of him. The
Odyssee is a
starting
point for a multi part video installation. A description of oneself in different
situations
in front of the camera. Direct and indirect composition plays a central
role
in it. The distributions of the video projections results from the cameras
viewpoint.
(wall, ceiling and floor).
O
Warum rückst du mir so nahe?
P Wenn du dich entfernst, weiß ich das du lügst
O Ich lüge nicht
P Noch gibt es keinen Grund dazu
O Wonach suchst du?
P Das weiß ich, wenn ich es gefunden habe
Odysseus:
Why do you move so close to me?
Penelope: If you move away, I know you are lying.
O: I dont lie
P: So far there wasnt a reason for it
O: What are you looking for?
P: Ill know it, when Ive found it
O
Wer bin ich?
P Was über dich erzählt wird
O Ich bin eine Geschichte
P Und ich gehöre dazu
O Und wenn ich nicht mehr bin?
P Dann wird man von dir erzählen
O Und du?
P Ich bin ein Teil deiner Geschichte
O Was wirst du ohne mich machen?
P Ich werde deinen Ruhm weiter tragen
O Niemand kennt mich wirklich
P Alle möchten so sein wie du
O:
Who am I?
P: What they say about you
O: Im a story
P: And Im part of it
O: And when I dont exist anymore?
P: Then they talk about you
O: And you?
P: Im part of your story
O: What will you do without me?
P: Ill carry on your glory
O: Nobody really knows me
P: Everybody wants to be like you
